For 15 years, the former Odeon cinema in St. Albans has sat quiet. Threatened with demolition, its future has now been secured thanks to the vision and resourcefulness of local residents. This inspired the entrepreneur James Hannaway, CEO of The Rex cinema in Berkhamsted to build a business case resulting in the purchase of the cinema in 2010.
This website documents the restoration of the building from a derelict warren of four screens to the glorious Art Deco single screen cinema that it was originally intended to be. There are many other websites devoted to the restoration of this cinema which is great to see. However, this site focuses more on the engineering aspects of the building restoration. You will find some very unusual photos on this site!
